NUMBER OF SEEDS

With large seeds like those of peas and beans, you can include as few as 10-15 seeds per packet.

For smaller seeds (tomato and dill), please include at least 20 seeds per packet. These aren’t set rules, so if you can’t send in that much, don’t worry. Please just try to be fair to others who might receive your seeds.

PACKAGE LABEL

Please label the seed packets you send in with the variety name (i.e. Brandywine), plant type (i.e. tomato), source if commercial (i.e. Johnny’s Selected Seeds), and year saved/bought (i.e. 2021). Seeds can be packaged in any way that will keep them contained (i.e. coin envelope, plastic baggie, origami envelope)

GERMINATION

Remember that the germination rates of all seeds decline every year. And the rate is different for different types. Lettuce seeds aren’t very long-lived (2-3 years of good germination), whereas tomato seeds often germinate well more than 6 years later. So please don’t send in very old seed, and if you’re unsure how old is too old, just do a quick google search.
